BS6 cars – 3 Myths To Steer Clear Of | Arenaworld

BS6, a term that has been at the centre of the biggest discussions in the automobile industry, has received an incredible amount of attention throughout the nation. However, it often happens that when a new topic is discussed at such magnitude, there are a few myths that build around the same. Those who are well-versed with BS6 emission norms are better aware of the impacts that the BS6 norms are going to bring about. Commencing from 1st April 2020, BS6 emission norms will come into effect PAN India for both petrol and diesel vehicles.

As far as BS6 myths are concerned, steer clear of the following ones:

1. You can’t drive a BS4 car after April 2020

Many people are under the impression that from April 2020 onwards, BS4 vehicles will become obsolete and hence banned to be driven on Indian roads. Well, the norm only states that after 1st April 2020, new BS4 vehicles will not be registered. Those who are driving BS4 cars can continue to do so, and those who are planning to buy a BS6 car, please note - you’ll be contributing to green mobility in the long run.

2. The availability of BS6 fuel will prove to be an issue

While it is true that BS6 fuel is available at select stations at the moment, it is not really a concern if you buy a Maruti Suzuki BS6 compliant car since these are extensively tested to run on BS4 fuels without any operational concerns.

As for the long term, it is important to remember that Demand fuels Supply. With more and more BS6 compliant models available, the availability of BS6 fuels will improve as well.

3. BS6 engines will not offer the same level of performance

This is another myth which doesn’t have any basis to it. Maruti Suzuki BS6 compliant cars are thoroughly tested in actual driving conditions to ensure strict BS6 compliance without any compromise in performance.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car manufacturer, is geared up for this change and now has 12 BS6 compliant car models within its line-up, including Alto, Baleno, Dzire, Ertiga, S-Presso, swift, WagonR (1.0L & 1.2L), XL6, Ciaz, Eeco, Ignis and Celerio.
