When necessity speaks, it demands change, just like India’s switch from BS4 to BS6 starting April 1st, 2020. It is a progressive decision on the part of the Indian government to bring emission norms in the country at par with the rest of the world.
What good will BS6 norms bring?
The implication of stricter BS6 emission norms is being done to help reduce vehicle-related emissions.
According to the regulations proposed in Bharat Stage Emissions Standards (BSES), it is said that with BS6 in place, the emission of NOx (Nitrogen Oxides), Non-Methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC) and the particular matter will substantially reduce. Further, BS6 vehicles will run on BS6 fuel gradient which will be cleaner than what the BS4 fuel we use today.
What makes BS6 different from BS4?
The key points of difference between BS4 and BS6 include: -
⦁ BS6 grade fuel is cleaner and will reduce pollution.
⦁ BS6 cars will release lower NOx and CO (carbon monoxide).
⦁ Unlike BS4, BS6 cars will have Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) and RDE (Real Driving Emission) for real-time tracking of emissions.
⦁ As a BS6 car owner, you can rest assured that your car will run of BS4 fuel without any concerns.
