CNG: COMMON MYTHS V/S REALITY | Arenaworld

S-CNG Cars With ECU

In the hustle bustle of life, Atul looks forward to one thing the most – spending some quality time with his five-year-old daughter Ameesha, as he drives her to school every morning on his way to work. It wasn’t always like this. The hasty scooter rides would hardly give the father-daughter any time to chat. Things changed when he decided to buy a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) car to offer his family a better quality of life and listen to Ameesha uninterrupted while driving her to school. It was a conscious decision to buy a CNG car because of its relatively low emission levels and better fuel economy. His friends and neighbors raised several concerns because they had heard that CNG cars don’t deliver a great performance and are unsafe, but Atul stood firm because he had done his research and was convinced about his choice of car - a brand new Maruti Suzuki Celerio powered by S-CNG technology.

Atul’s research was thorough to the extent that he read up everything available on CNG and explored every automotive brand in the market that offered the CNG option, but to his dismay the CNG fitment in most of these cars were post purchase. As he was already aware of the benefits of factory fitted CNG, he immediately decided to purchase a Maruti Suzuki car which comes with S-CNG technology. Today, Atul’s joy knows no bounds as he shares his incredible experience of driving his S-CNG car and tries to bust the myths related to CNG cars in India.

CNG cars have poor acceleration and are not suitable to drive on all terrains
In all of this time since Atul has been driving his Maruti Suzuki Celerio with S-CNG Technology, it has never failed him in a dire situation. Being fond of travelling, he likes taking short trips with his family to the hills and other destinations over weekends and holidays. Now the entire family gets to travel in their S-CNG car, which provides comfort, convenience and great performance in any terrain.

The truth is that every Maruti Suzuki S-CNG car comes with a dual interdependent Engine Control Unit (ECU), which regulates the air-fuel mixture during combustion by giving accurate inputs to the intelligent injection system continuously. If your car doesn’t have the correct air-fuel mixture during combustion, it could lead to common engine problems like knocking and hunting, which hamper engine life and also the performance of the car. This is why Atul’s family road trips have been smooth sailing throughout. Believe it or not, Maruti Suzuki S-CNG cars are designed and tested to deliver enhanced performance on all kinds terrains and under extreme driving conditions. They are also tuned and calibrated to carry the additional load of a cylinder.

CNG cars have a reduced engine life as compared to petrol and diesel cars and require frequent filling
Atul takes good care of his Maruti Suzuki Celerio with S-CNG Technology through personal measures and regular servicing at Maruti Suzuki Service Centres, which have trained technicians. On the contrary, his friend Arun who got his CNG kit retro-fitted, faces several issues pertaining to car performance and CNG kit. He gets his car repaired at his own expense quite frequently as he no longer enjoys the benefits of car warrantly due to retro-fitment of CNG kit.

To enable great customer experiences, Maruti Suzuki has ensured that its factory-fitted S-CNG vehicles are just as robust and durable as their other cars. Maruti Suzuki S-CNG car’s engine has specially developed valve seats and high-quality mounting parts in the cylinder head which ensures durability.

Atul is not only amazed with the mileage that his Maruti Suzuki Celerio powered by S-CNG technology gives but also with the convenience of the CNG fuel level indicator that keeps him updated on fuel consumption. The Auto Switch helps in easy switching between petrol and CNG mode even while driving which gives him a seamless driving experience.

CNG cars are not as safe as petrol or diesel cars

When Atul watches Arun go through the hassle of refueling, he thanks his stars for making a better choice with the Maruti Suzuki S-CNG. Otherwise taking extra precaution every time the car needs filling at the CNG station would have been painful.

With Maruti Suzuki S-CNG, these concerns are taken care with a special nozzle that ensures faster and safer filling. Micro switch cuts the ignition while re-fueling, there are also additional safety features like corrosion-resistant leak proof tanks, and stainless-steel pipes and joints that prevent leakage and enhance the overall safety of the car.

There is a lack of skilled technicians for CNG cars in the country
When Atul pulls into the Maruti Suzuki service station closest to his house, he breathes easy. He also marvels at how the company’s technicians treat his car as their own and are trained to know every inch of it. He can see that they know what they’re doing and what exactly the car needs.

With over 3500+ service stations, Maruti Suzuki has ensured the availability of highly trained and skilled technicians across the country. A roadside mechanic cannot troubleshoot or repair a car as well as a company technician who is trained on how the car was built in the first place.

Atul’s daily morning routine is special to him, just as special as his car that made it all possible. Seeing his hassle-free driving experience, his family and friends appreciate his wise decision to opt for a Maruti Suzuki S-CNG car, which is not only fuel efficient but is also environment friendly.
